The project
A collaborative Android app for the rescue, foster and adoption of lost animals. It starts from a concrete problem: information is scattered across isolated social media posts and chances of reunion are lost. The project goes from research to a tested prototype and a UI Kit, with qualitative interviews, user personas, a card sort of 19 features and two usability tests along the way.

Key decisions
An MVP with the essentials
With MoSCoW, the feed, posting with a photo, the map, filters and proximity alerts came first. Shelters, events and vets were left for later.
From hand sketches to high fidelity
Paper sketches to think fast, low fidelity to validate structure and navigation, mid fidelity to refine hierarchies and flows, and high fidelity in the working prototype, with the final identity and copy.
A UI kit built on Material Design
For a native Android app, I based the system on Material Design: visual consistency and simpler implementation.
